Use-Cases | Profile Generation
C3D Pipes disappear on each ASE profile regeneration cycle
Issue
"... After importing the C3D pipes into ASE's profile drawing via data shortcut, when I refresh the ASE profile, all my pipes are gone! ..."
Cause
Pipes and user objects are assigned to one of the Profile Generator’s preset layers reserved for ASE linework and labels, which ASE deletes on each regeneration cycles.
During profile generation cycles, ASE ignores objects assigned to all other layers.
Solution
Resolving this issue could involve additional steps, depending on how the utilities-related content is being used in ASE’s profile space.
-
If the content is for “design reference only” and will not be displayed in the improvement sheets using ASE Civil, then you'll only need to apply part 1) of this solution.
-
If the intent is to display the utilities and related content on the improvement plans using ASE’s ‘Sheet Views’, then both steps should be applied
Re-Layer Non-ASE Objects
-
To keep utilities local within the generated road profile drawing and prevent them from being erased between profile regenerations cycles, change Civil 3D objects and/or manual drafting work to a non-preset layer.
-
To both prevent deletion and also make non-ASE objects appear in the ‘Sheet Views’ on the improvements, assign the objects to an “ASE(Sheet View)-Managed Layer”, using the component specification that matches the ASE profile component non-ASE objects should appear with.
