Use-Cases | Profile Generation
ASE Profiles, EG Surfaces Missing, Corrupt
Issue
"...I shared my paving data for my divided road. I opened my ASE profile drawing and generated the profiles and everything looked great. Then I noticed that my EG profile linework on the L1 & R1 components was only partially complete..."
Cause
Some parts of the site layout are missing in the BMC geometry data.
I believe the reason for the issues with the EG profiles on this specific street (or any street containing medians) is due to some or all of the centerline geometry missing from the BMC definition. In this image, the red shows the portions of the two divided road alignments that need centerline data added to the definition.
* Note: This is not to say that any geometry is missing from the site layout or from the centerline alignments. This only means that related geometry was not included in the BMC definition.
Solution
To generate full, accurate EG profile linework in the profile drawing do the following:
-
Open the site layout drawing
-
Redefine BMC data, with more content by identifying which streets needed additional centerline geometry, and include them in a revised BMC data definition.
-
Open the vertical design drawing
-
Ensure the EG surface is set current in ASE
-
Set the respective alignment current
-
Shared alignment’s paving data
-
Open the ASE-generated profile drawing
-
Generate the profiles
