For some time now, whenever the license details were checked via [Help]-> My ASE:

the status tab would reveal all zeros. This happened once before back in 2019 but for a completely different reason.

This was resolved (again) on 7/9/2025.

So if you haven't seen those alert dialogs in AutoCAD yet telling you no ASE licenses are available, but in fact you were actually exceeding your preset limit of floating licenses, if that scenario plays out again, you will not be able to access more licenses than your organization have purchased.

Background

When clicking a command, ASE Civil validates the license being used via web connection to a server. This check is performed each time any command is invoked. However, the checking process is limited so that it does not occur more than once every 7 seconds. This governor is in-place to minimize internet traffic, server load, etc.

This system has been controlling ASE licensing authorization and distribution 24 hours per day since 2015.

No changes to the system or controlling apps have been made in several years.

Issue Encountered

A client recently reported long delays of up to 15 seconds when running some ASE commands.

While supporting a client and advising them to download the latest beta version, I was given a rude reminder:

You may only download (some) installers if you are a member of the ASE Civil Community and have registered using your email address.

Even if you're an administrator (like me) and visit the site without logging in, the file center folders will appear to be empty.

After logging in, all the installers suddenly appeared.

I apologize, but in these times & considering visitors from countries all over the world actually come here, this little security measure is a necessary evil for now.

According to database reports, today ASE Civil has been used more than any other day in the past 8 years! The previous record was shattered by 40%!
